Young woman with long brown hair, wearing a red athletic jacket and pants, sitting on a bike rack in front of a large, empty, rectangular advertising display on a city sidewalk.

Nela Fletcher is a Swiss artist based in Hangzhou, China, working with photography, film, installation and drawing. Her work is held in public collections including Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington NZ, and the Invercargill Public Art Gallery NZ, and is currently showing at Te Papa, Dunedin Public Art Gallery, and the Invercargill Public Art Gallery.

Thinking with the body, Fletcher's practice explores how bodies navigate public, personal, and internal spaces. A former professional dancer and choreographer, she brings a choreographic sensibility and finds the curious, the human, and the occasionally absurd in familiar environments.
